I live in Sullivan county NY. I am delay vaccinating only because form what I am reading not vaccinating at all is going to be close to impossible with the school. My ped seemed ok with me not vaxing in the beginning, but now that my baby is 9 months old he is starting to push them. I need to find a vaccine friendly ped. If anyone knows of one in Sullivan county NY, Orange county NY or Wayne county PA, please give me a name!

I'm not in the area but I came across your post and thought I'd bump it up for attention. smile.gif We do have a resource article in the works: http://www.mothering.com/community/a/vaccine-flexible-pediatricians

From the sounds of what you wrote, you are only considering vaxing because you're worried about what will happen when your children go to school?  I don't know about the laws in NY, but here in PA it can look like you *have* to vax or vax by school age but there is an exemption.  Have you talked w/ others in you area about what they've done?  You might want to check w/ some homeschoolers too, if you know any.  They may know.

Best wishes,

Sus

Baby the babies while they're babies so they don't need babying for a lifetime.

I don't know anyone who has kids that are in my school district or who home school. The few people I do know who do not vax also don't go to the dr. My midwife was actually fired by her pediatrician for not vaccinating and that was in PA.

NY the only exemption allowed is religious (which can be a very big fight requiring a formal deposition to prove religious belief) and medical which is even harder to get. Our current pediatrician won't even give a medical exemption to my 3 year old who ran a 104 fever for 3 days and developed an ear infections after his 6 month DTaP shot.

Bumping this up, hoping to find the same thing in the Sullivan County area. I've gone through all the area pediatricians I can find and have come up empty. We don't have a whole lot of anything out here and any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you are willing to drive to Poughkeepsie, Bambini Pediatrics is non-vax friendly, integrative medicine. They are wonderful.

I have been looking into them, they are covered by my insurance and I don't mind the drive at all! Might be a good option! THANKS!
