I am looking for a real fun play-based preschool in central NJ. My son is 3.8 years now. He was in a very structured PS and I realized that's not what he need. He is very academically advanced, can read, write, spell, good at doing math.... However he is slow at social. I was told he would need a truly play based preschool where kids play a lot and sitting in a circle time should be interest based.
I have visited many many preschools and none of them meet my expectations. Could anybody suggest a school for me?
Thanks a lot.
Where are you located? My son (almost 4) attends a Reggio Emilia school in Union. If you are close to Union send me a PM and I'll give you the school information. It is an wonderful program and the difference it has made in our son is amazing.
I'm sure there are better resources out there, but the wiki page isn't bad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggio_Emilia_approach
Here is a quote from Loris Malaguzzi who started the Reggio Emilia approach, "a school for all children, based not on the idea that they are the same, but that they are different."
