looking for the 17 year brood emerging now/soon - willing to travel within the tristate area - please let me know if there are any large amounts in your area
we are checking cicadamainia but no not everyone posts on there - thanks
please let me know if there are any large amounts in your area
I saw a bunch of cicadas in my front yard this morning - not sure if that counts as a "large amount". We live in NJ, at the border of Essex, Morris and Union counties.
thank you - is your area far off of 78? - it appears rt78 area (near Springfield) has adults now - we plan to go this weekend, according to the maps we have been looking at your area is a bit a head of us (we are in PA) - are you near any state parks? We mainly are looking for a state park area that has been left undisturbed these past 17 years.
by large/big I mean - sound wise - super loud! and 1000's and 1000's of adults and sheds-the more the merrier! for us
I know one area near us that 17 years ago I was at and so far they have not emerged (which is good!!) and I am really curious to see the effects of 17 years and how close to the dates they emerge (that should be the first week of June near us-fingers crossed)
We are literally across the county line from Springfield. :)
You might want to check out the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum, the Reeves-Reed Arboretum, or the South Mountain Reservation - all are very near us. (There were a LOT of them in the South Mountain Reservation two cycles, or 34 years, ago.)
that was exactly what info I was looking for- thanks so much!
