I am due in January and I'm looking for a pediatrics practice that is open to an alternative vaccine plan with vaccines spread out. I have heard good things about a local practice but when I called and mentioned I was interested in that I received a not so great response from the nurse. I'm looking for a practice that is open to parents requests and will not hassel me on a different scheduled vaccine plan.
I'm in northern Lancaster County so not very far from Harrisburg but still a drive. My sons have both gone to my family doctor, Manor Family Health Center in Millersville since birth. Neither is fully vaccinated at this point but I have used selective/delayed vac with both without much fuss from the doctors. I provided the CDC's delayed/catch-up immunization schedule at the first appointment and said that I would be using it to spread out the vaccinations to reduce the number of doses and frequency of shots but that I planned to have my children fully vaccinated but the time they started school. Maybe that was a little bit of a fib but they won't remember I said it in five years. Another technique that has worked well is that they have nurse visits that I use to spread out the shots. I can defer at one of the well-child check-ups and just say that I will call in for a nurse appointmnet. As long as I keep up with the well-childs, they don't care when I get the vaccs.
I hope this helps!
