We need to move because of neighborhood/landlord issues, but this is crazy frustrating right now! We currently live on the North Shore of Long Island and my husband's total commute is just over an hour. Our oldest son goes to a Nassau BOCES school that we really like and I'm pregnant with our fourth child and actually found a birthing situation that I like here (which still shocks me), so we'd kind of like to stay in Nassau County, but finding an affordable rental that is big enough for our family with a decent commute and decent schools for our other kids seems to be an impossible task. We've considered NJ and are starting to consider looking north of Manhattan, both of which would mean changing schools for my oldest and losing my midwife, but might be more affordable and get us some more space. So, where do you live that is commutable to NYC and do you like it? I know this is a tall order, but just looking for some options that I haven't considered yet.
