Ok-so I have my son in a wonderful daycare here in the city-but its totally killing our budget and I'm trying to find some less expensive but still good quality childcare situations here in Manhattan. (We're trying to find somewhere that will take children under the age of 2yrs and that the tuition is less than $1650 or so a month) I know-its a crazy request! But it can't hurt to try

TIA!

Just a thought, could you nanny share with someone? I have no ideas what nannies charge now, or if you and a friend could share a nanny. (Someone has to have room for the nanny to live, unless they are already living around you.)
I nannied when younger and I also had to find somewhere for my daughter, when I worked. I ended up using a family daycare provider that homeschooled. I am still friends with her, years later.
Finding a homeschool mama who has room and heart for another little one might work for you, too.
:-)
