We played today, no real close exposure...but, I'm hoping just playing for about 45 mins will do it. If not, we will keep following the chain.

Does mailing a lollipop really work? If so, I'd be happy to pay postage too if anyone's willing to share!

I have heard of kids getting infected this way. Not everyone is convinced, because there are a few factors that go into it. Like it really needs to be overnighted, must be airtight, ect.

Oh, wow, this is a reasonable distance for me. I will have to talk to my husband and see what he thinks.

ooohhh, that's close! I'm so tempted, but of course it happens now, during the season when my dh goes underway a lot. lol What's the incubation period again? 2 weeks? This may work.

I talked to DH about going, and found that he's still on the fence about purposeful exposure to CP. He's leaning towards it, but just wants to look into it a little more. So we agreed this is the catalyst to make the decision soon so we can keep our eyes out for another CP party within the next year.

About two weeks, is the usual incubation period. 14-16 days. SO FAR, not too bad. A little itchy, a little crabby.

I would think, before it gets too hot, where there is minimal sweating, and long sleeves and pants aren't problematic.

For those who are debating whether to expose deliberately, this is a virus with minimal impact on children (usually, but do your own research) but is far worse in adults, both in severity AND in greater negative impact (greater fatalities, etc)

I know that if my kids didn't catch it by the time they were 12, I was going to vaccinate. (the younger hasn't demonstrated any pox yet)That's from my own research and conclusions, YMMV.

And it's about freaking impossible in this day and age to accidentally catch it. Especially 'wild' pox. Since the only ones trying to get it usually are more likely to not be out and about when most contagious, and the others will be the dna modified shed vaccine pox.
Anyway, we are open to visitation at the moment, but if he starts to feel to crappy... I will close the invites down.

Yeah, DH already decided today that he is willing to do it.

But a little late for 1momct's party. (Well, she said Monday too but I'd have to take off of work for it). At least now we're on the same page for the next opportunity that comes up, which we'll take as long as it's reasonably convenient.

we will most likely be leaving the contagious zone behind in a day or so(4-5 days post first spot), So i would bet that it would be a low exposure chance after that.

Thanks for the fun playmate. My son is still playing pirate games and shouting "man overboard!". Here's hoping!

Dd and I also had a great time! You and your son are terrific! Let me know if you're ever in the area again. We could all use a little more pirate in our day, eh (arrgh?)?!

Us too. We had two full days of exposure (from 9-3) and not a pox yet. I've thought a few times it might be it, but they disappeared withing 6 hours.
Fingers still crossed.

Children deserve the respect of puzzling it out.

we are on solid day 3. still some new ones this am, still some vesicles, but some have opened already. if you are up for today, we are home today, but Im thinking we are getting close to end of the window. we've had several visitors, and this strain seems to be fairly catchy with visitors (and this is my sons second confirmed case...his little bro got it first.)
