Hi there,

Did you have any luck getting CP?  I'm in Brooklyn and am really trying to expose my daughter.  Thanks so much,

Erin

My daughter got chicken pox from our playdate in Boston 2 weeks ago. This was our third exposure, so it wasn't easy.

So this is the end of day 2, and we're open to having playdates. I posted on NY, NJ, and PA since I'm in NYC, but I'm posting here too in case anyone is willing to travel longer distances.

PM me and give your email (PM is awkward for me to use) if you're interested.

NYC is just out of range for us as our car is in the shop.  But thanks for posting!! Sweetmilo, will you post if you get pox after your playdate?  We didn't have any blooms after our playdate in Boston at the beginning of May.  I had child #2 tested last week and am awaiting the results.  Incidentally, Michelle at East Side Laboratory in Providence is an excellent phlebotomist.  My son (3 yrs) and I both had blood work done and neither of us felt a thing.  Not a thing.

Keep your pox posts coming!!!!  Thank you everyone!!!!

We are in CT- but way north in CT. I cannot do a day trip to NYC. :(

Sweetmilo- if you do get them- PLEASE post here! ( I see you are in CT)

My 11 year old NEVER got them, even after being exposed several times. I also have a 2.5 year old and an 8 mo old.

I would love for the younger ones to get them, but Im skeptic about the 11 year old now. I know he would get it bad if he did get them. IDK what to do about him. Any advice? (Please and thank you!) xoxo

It still might be worth a shot?  My ped says they are contagious for 11 days.  Of course, they are most contagious when running a fever, but maybe it would work?

Just bumping this up.

Still looking for chicken pox.  Anyone???  We would LOVE to get this asap!

By the way, does anyone know of the possibility/challenges surrounding getting it from an elderly person with shingles?  Thanks for your thoughts.

While it is possible to get chicken pox from a person with shingles, it is more difficult. The virus is present in the rash that occurs during shingles, but does not spread as easily by other means.

My brother (28 yrs old) recently had shingles and played with my daughters before he knew he was sick. He had a rash and wasn't feeling so hot, but hadn't had it checked out yet.  They spent several hours together and my girls (aged 2 and 4) didn't get a spot.  On that note, we didn't get a spot at a pox playdate either...   Still hoping.

I seem to remember that in order to catch shingles, you would have to come in contact with an actual open sore. Yuck!

Bean's fever seems to have broken. She has an angry red rash and a few more spots but it looks like she is starting to feel better. I dont think she is contagious anymore.

Good luck to all who came to visit. :)

OK folks.  Yellow alert here.  14 days after exposure in Hull our 6 year old is coughing hard enough to wake her up and make her gag.  She seems a bit warm and has some red spots behind her ears.  Will have to take a closer look in the light of day but this might be it.

I have an appointment at 2:40 today to see what is going on.  If this is the pox, it is a very mild case.  We were up in Maine and everyone was getting bitten by bugs so I thought they were just bug bites.  In retrospect I think the 3 year old had ONE pox.  (pock?  what is the singular form of pox?)  And the 6 year old has actually had one vaccination shot so I wasn't expecting her to get it.  But now she has about 15 bumps on her back and neck.  Plus coughing and tummy pain and headaches.  Will keep you all posted.

Well the doc says it is a definite maybe. Wants to see more developed spots. The good news is that the things that I thought were bug bites actually were bug bites. So she may be just in the first stages of an outbreak. If anyone wants to visit, PM me. We are just outside of providence RI.

RI is a little far for me.  I'm hoping someone might bring them a little closer to Western MA?  I've now exposed my son 4 times and he still hasn't gotten them. Very frustrating.

Any pox around the Boston area by chance???

We missed the spots down in Hull, but thought maybe there could still be some being passed around from that...
