Hi. I am newly Pg with my third, and am hoping for my second vbac. I live just south of Boston and was hoping for some feedback on various care providers in this area. I am looking for a smaller hospital based midwifery practice, and am also interested in anyone's personal experiences with or feedback on home birth midwives in the area. I am leaning toward hospital vbac, but am trying to keep an open mind. Does anyone have experience with the CNM practices out of Newton Wellsley or South shore midwifery now at Jordan? I know Mt Auburn is supposed to be good, but that is just too big of a practice for me. I have some special circumstances,, and need to be able to build a good relationship with my care providers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The report linked here: http://www.mass.gov/eohhs/docs/dph/research-epi/birth-report-2009.pdf gives a lot of information about birth in Massachusetts, including (started on page 84), the percentage of VBACs at each Massachusetts hospital.

If you are open to an OB, consider Beth Hardiman at Mt. Auburn. She has a solo practice, so you’ll get to build a relationship. I haven't been in the position to have a VBAC myself, but my friend highly recommended Beth to me after her wonderful VBAC experience with Beth. :-) Feel free to PM me if you’d like more information about her.

Best wishes for a wonderful pregnancy and birth! I’ll be thinking of you.

Have you seen the other South Shore VBAC threads?   Jordan is now offering TOLAC's and it seems to be going really well.

Have you connected locally with anyone?  Most midwives will do a complimentary consult with you -  Paige Eastman Dickinson (http://massmidwives.org/index.php/profile/view/30/) and Jessica Petrone (http://www.homebirthmatters.com/)are two wonderful midwives on the South Shore- and there are others, too.

Wishing you a wonderful pregnancy and peaceful birth!
