I'm new to the New England area and looking for homeschooling co-op's, resources, friends.
We are secular un-schoolers and we live in SE Vermont (Brattleboro).
I'd be willing to travel an hour or so if there were co-ops in NW Mass or SW NH or further NW in VT but the closer, the better...
We are missing our old connections and friends (we used to be in Philadelphia)!
My daughter is almost 4 and I have a 1 year old son too.
any advice/leads/tips much appreciated!!!
Amber

If it's not too far for you, you might also check out the Keene NH homeschool group as well. We'll be going over more often when it warms up! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KeeneHomeschool/

Rainbowmoon- how far do you travel to Chester? Are there any cultural areas nearby, or is Bratt the closest?

We live in Rockingham and are 10 minutes from the center of Chester.

It is typical New England small towns around here. There are some cultural things here and there. Bellows Falls has an Opera House and there are things going on in all the surrounding towns and historic type things. We are just new to the area this past fall btw!

Thanks for replying! We are looking at moving to VT, possibly Brattleboro to be closer to my family (which would still be 3 hours away). I am trying to gather as much info about events and places as I can glean from the web, but it is hard to scratch the surface. I LOVE the sound of the journey school, but I am nervous about making the decision based on the idea of a school....
We moved to our current local because we thought the waldorf school would meet our social needs in ways that it hasn't- thats ok, but now I am really cautious about moving with out knowing more about a place. We have friends all over VT and have been there several times over the past 5 years, but I haven't been to S. VT for more than a drive though.
I really wish the Journey School was closer to Montpelier or Brattleboro.
Thanks for reading my ramble!

Hi!
My DS went to Kinderhaven last year and loved it. He would love to go back to the Journey school but the drive got to be a little too much. I am not sure if it is still set up, but in the back of the Moon Dog Cafe is a place called the song yard. It is a Waldorf inspired open play space that was great to take my younger DS to while the older one was at Kinderhaven.
Also, their is a homeschool group that meets in Putney once a week. It is generally set up for older kids but we do have a parent run class for the younger ones. Let me know if you want more info!

I'm having trouble finding any more info about the putney group but I did just get a response on the local brattleboro parent's group for a lead that may lead me (eventually) to the putney group...I'll keep everyone posted

I, too, would love some info on the Putney group. We are looking at Brattleboro for a potential move also. It seems like a great place!
