Haven't heard of any in Burlington in quite a while. I am still stalking this thread. Really hoping I find them within the next few years! Let me know if you end up with spots. We would LOVE to come for a playdate!

More chickenpox in New Paltz, NY (New York tribe thread): I think the spots appeared yesterday and they have been confirmed as pox. We're going to try to get it through the mail this time. If anyone is near there, it sounds like they are open to a visit.

Just send you a PM! I live in Burlington and absolutely would be willing to share them if DS happens to get them. He didn't get them the last time I exposed him, but maybe the second time's the charm!

Thanks so much again! DS had a great exposure to your SIL's daughter today. I will definitely update here if he starts showing signs in a few weeks. Crossing my fingers!

That is what your SIL said, and my son stayed for quite a while, and your sweet neice gave DS a BIG hug just before we left, so I am hoping it takes. She was saying that pretty much 18 days on the dot is the date to circle on my calendar. I have already emailed a few friends who are looking for pox to put them on standby. If he does break out, I will have a parade of people through here for sure.

Why is something that is "so easy to get" and "so communicable" (according to most DR's) impossible to find this year?? Ugh...I'm almost at the point of giving up...PLEASE POX FAIRY come and visit Maine

I spent my life negotiating for a living, and now my 2 and 4 year old are closing the deals.  I now am a firm believer in Karma!

Amen Naomi! We've tried THREE times to get it here (in seacoast NH), with no luck. I thought it'd be "third time is the charm", and so far it's "three strikes and you're out".

Anyone in the seacoast area?!?!?!

Yup, yup, tomorrow is day 18 and I am waiting with baited breath! He got sent home from school today with pretty severe diarrhea that came on pretty suddenly, but pretty much stopped as soon as we got home. Then he sprained his ankle, so we had to head to the emergency walk-in clinic in town to have that checked out. He played pretty normally for the rest of the evening and is sleeping now, so we will see what tomorrow brings. Hoping the diarrhea was the pox coming on. I will update tomorrow!

Any pox, Pumpkin Pie? Some suggestive signs here: one with runny nose, one with swollen gland, one who slept all afternoon (very unusual). Watching, watching....

No pox yet, but he was INSANELY cranky all afternoon, and also very, very tired after a decent nap. He went to bed early and is coughing a bit. If he doesn't sprout any pox, and yours do, is there any chance we can come by? Of course the reverse is offered if yours don't and he does.

I think we have it! 5 yo woke at 1:30 with a very itchy scalp and was up to 6:30. She's sleeping now. It was almost exactly 18 days after exposure, as promised.

I'll post later when I'm sure, but please PM me if you want them. (You too, of course, Pumpkin Pie.) We're in Middlesex VT, just northwest of Montpelier.

Not a hint of itch here. I really am starting to think that he won't get them while he is still nursing. I don't want him to wean, but this is the third exposure he has had and not a hint of pox..... 4babes, I would definitely like to take you up on the offer if you don't mind. I am just going to keep on trying to get them. Maybe he will be one of those kids who has immunity, but we never see the pox?

Aaargh! It doesn't look like it after all. The itchy scalp seems to have been bug bites; other than that, there's one red spot below her navel, but that seems to be a bite too. I was so hopeful because of the timing!

Pumpkin, I think she might have been working through the virus too, without manifesting it as pox, since she took a monster nap yesterday which is completely out of character. I hope so. That sure would be the easiest way out.

Not a sign on the other children.

PinkinPA, I'd be happy to mail shirts and/or pops if and when we do get it. Also, have you checked the MA thread? I think I saw pox activity there in the last couple days.

We may just take a break for a while. This is five exposures and no go. The kids aren't keen on needles, otherwise I'd titer them -- may do it anyway.

So sorry to lead everyone on!

*UPDATE* We've got em! Today is Day 22 and he just started sprouting blisters a few hours ago! I didn't think it could take this long, but am sort of wondering if it had to do with him still nursing? No idea, but I never thought I would be this thrilled about him being sick! He has a low grade fever of 100.5 and a runny nose and a little cough and about a dozen spots so far. Hoping for more spots tomorrow. If anyone wants to come play, let me know. I will be home tomorrow cleaning my house for guests!
