Glad you did, because DD just broke out yesterday!!!!

I was just thinking I should find this thread... I've been surprised by local friends who have been hesitant to take us up on it.

We're in Springfield, Vermont.

We got it from a towel used by a babe who had it three weeks ago.

PM me if I can send you something, or if you want to visit.

We're thinking we have some t-shirts and such that she's growing out of and we can just give away, all well pox-ified :)

Hope it works out!

DD didn't get many new spots after the first day, and they're already pretty dried out! Dang, that was fast.

After the first day, she hasn't even really noticed them.

Hopefully DS will break out soon and we can have another round of sharing the ... love :)

Heads up: there's a case of the pox in my kids' school - Middlesex VT, just north of Montpelier.  I'll find out what I can and post back if they're sharing.

Can I ask why some of you try to give your kids the cp on purpose? not being rude,I think I might know, but am unsure- I have an 11 year old child, and a locsl friend has them, wondering about the pros and cons of purposely exposing him, though she broke out today, her brother has shingles ,and my ds was with them both 2x last week, within a couple of days of when they got sick......any advice? has he been exposed already?

Wish we were closer to you! We are 1.5hrs south of Portland, so that would be a long drive!! I will cross my fingers for you and hope that you pass it to someone a little more south :)

To hsmamato2,  I would rather my kids catch chickenpox naturally and be immune for life, versus getting the vaccine and having it wear off later in life and have to deal with boosters or catching it when they're older.  It's miserable when you're much older than 12 and I've heard for boys that you also have to worry about sterility if you catch it much past the age of 12.  So I'd rather my kids catch it and get it over with.  Hoping to get it over with this year!

From what I've read, you're contagious a couple of days before the rash shows up.  So your friend may have been contagious and you'll know within 21 days of exposure whether your son has them, unless he was vaccinated.

Curious if chicken pox are going around?  I think DD has them- very mild case- and when I called her health care provider was told they were going around (she practices in southern maine).  I don't know where DD picked them up!  I am wondering about our trip to Range Pond in Poland a couple of weeks ago...

It can work. I know two people who sent the pox successfully via mail.  But not through lollipops - they used tshirts.  Ideally the poxy child will pop some pox and rub them into the shirt.  And you'll want to express it.

Good luck!

I have a 4 yo girl and a 3 month old girl. Is that too young to expose her sister and/or her? I'm in Barnstead NH, not too far from seacoast...

we're in pittsfield, right next door to you raelynsmama. we're still looking for some pox too. i'm not sure if 3mo is too young. the only thing i would question would be if she could get them again later on from being that young.
