Hello mamas,

We're a Canadian family currently in SC on a temporary relocation, and have just been told we're being sent to Little Rock in mid-June. Can anyone recommend resources in the North Little Rock area? We're homeschoolers of early elementary aged kids. We're also looking for areas to live in, where to avoid... we need a rental, house preferred. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

There are many resources for you in Little Rock. Check out the Little Rock Homeschooling Examiners page for information about homeschooling in Little Rock.

North Little Rock is better than Little Rock as far as neighborhoods go. There is a lot to do in the area. Be sure to check out local 4H clubs.

In North Little Rock, stay away from houses on streets with numbers. Pike St. is also no good. Lettered streets tend to be in Park Hill, which is a good, historic area. The Lakewood area is also good. What is your budget for a rental?

Our budget is about $1200-1500/mo, I'd say. I've also heard West Little Rock is a good area? Or have I been led astray, lol? At any rate my husband's been looking at an apartment complex near Chenal Pkwy and Cantrell Rd area.... Fingers crossed!

Also, thanks for the replies - I appreciate them very much! 4H clubs will be a new thing for us, but I'm sure my boys would love it!

West LR is generally good. The Hillcrest and/or Heights areas are where I'd live if I had a budget that high (historic homes, kind of hippy area).

You can easily find a rental in Park Hill or Lakewood in NLR with that budget. Maumelle tends to be good as well.

Chenal is good.
