Kartemquin Educational Films will be kicking off its 45th Anniversary celebration with the re-release of its newly restored 1975 film The Chicago Maternity Center Story on January 29th, 2011 at the Gene Siskel Film Center. This event will attract over 200 audience members interested in both film preservation and women's health.
The Chicago Maternity Center Story follows a young mother as she prepares to have her first child during a time when the medical industries stance on home births drastically changed, forcing the Chicago Maternity Center to eventually discontinue its services and close its doors. The film takes an in-depth look at women's health and issues that remain relevant today.
