I'll be visiting World Learner School and Spring Hill School in Chaska and Excelsior. I hope to do these in the same day. My mother in law and my two children aged 4 and 6 can either stay at the hotel or ride with me, but they cannot be on the school tours. So, they need some places to hang out while I do the tours. They could hang out in the morning (Shakopee??)

Then, we will need to eat lunch in the area near Chaska or Excelsior. Any lunch spots you like?

They can go to a park near Spring Hill School in the afternoon. But, if the weather is inclement, do you know of other indoor play places in this area?

The link is for a map of the two locations to show you the vicinity.,0.441513&z=11

I would recommend going to the arboretum in Chanhassen with the kids - they have an indoor area for kids there. There is also Gale Woods Farm further out on highway 5. Otherwise, I'd hang out at the park in Excelsior, on Lake Minnetonka. Oh, there is also a huge playground in Victoria, I believe. Very fancy, with a fake swimming lake.

Have fun!

For indoor playgrounds I'd recommend Edinborough Park in Edina. It's a little bit of a drive from Chaska & Excelsior, but not too far.

As far as outdoor parks, the arboretum would be good. If you're looking for a park specifically in Shakopee, there are a few nice ones along hwy. 101. But they might be flooded right now.

When are you coming? Right now there are a bunch of roads and bridges closed due to the MN river (and other rivers) flooding. For example, hwy 41 going over the MN river in Chaska is currently closed. I believe that hwy 101 is closed through Shakopee and Chaska. So if you're coming this week, you may want to plan to stay on the north and west sides of the river. Hopefully the roads will only be closed for the next few days.
