I am looking for a doula in the Pueblo area. I'm looking for one that is comfortable or familiar with hypnobabies and who would be comfortable attending (with a midwife) a HBA3C. Thanks!

Wife to a wonderful husband, mom to 5 amazing boys, 2 m/c and Knox Cornelius our 5th son born at 15weeks 12/3/2011, Lillian Faith our 1st daughter, born at 14 weeks May 19, 2012 (Turner Syndrome).

The only doulas that I know of down in Pueblo are Emily Likens 719-275-6135 and Heather Wiegert 719-551-4261.

Other than that, a great place to find Colorado Springs doulas is www.csdoulas.com

Personally, I have had experience with both VBAC and Hypnobabies clients. I have even take a full Hypnobirthing course, which I know is a little bit different, but none the less...

Ah, thanks, Mistletoe! Yes, I'm in Pueblo, and am DONA certified. I'm not sure how much I can say about my business here, but you can certainly call me for more information: 719-369-4368. I would love to talk with you!

Sorry that I didn't mention you Gina but I thought you were not taking doula clients because of your midwifery studies/practice. I should not assume, LOL. Would you like me to continue referring southern doula clients to you?

Sure, Candace! I am taking doula clients, but you're right--my main emphasis is on my midwifery practice. But I'm not overly busy with that yet, lol. Thanks!

She's going to be my midwife if I ever have another baby. I've already decided.

Susie Trujillo is in Canon City.

BTW, did you know that it is still legal to have VBAC's at home in Colorado? Under certain qualifying conditions, of course. The Department of Regulatory Agencies states that to have a midwife perform a VBAC at home, at least 18 months must have elapsed since your last cesarean delivery AND that if you have had two or more cesarean section deliveries, you must also have had at least one vaginal delivery to be eligible to have a midwife perform a VBAC at home.

There are some midwives in the area willing to work around this stipulation. Just FYI. Also FWIW, I'm refusing to sign this part of the mandated VBAC consent form.

Thanks! I'm planning on writing why I'm refusing to sign this portion and including a couple of research articles about VBAMC and the risks of a c/s (primary or repeat).

IMO...if the law were really concerned about the risk of rupture and the number of c/s scars it would mandate that no one could have HBAC if they had more than 1 scar. The law is really saying...unless you're "proven" you don't get to try. It's really (again IMO) a $$ thing and less about the health of the mom. Regardless of the need for a c/s in the first place.

Sorry for the vent. I guess I kinda hijacked my own thread.

I cam across this thread from a couple of years ago, and I am now the one in need of help. :-(  I need to find a "dedicated" midwife and doula to work with for a home birth in Penrose.  I've been making plans to go to Oklahoma to have this baby, but am at the point of knowing that I should not have to leave the state to have my baby and that it should be my choice how and where I have my baby.  I am a young, healthy mom that is just having to avoid the stupidities that have encroached into present day care for women.  Please HELP!

Thanks so much!

Southern Colorado midwives that I know of are Julie Vigil and Susie Trujillo and Liz Pearce and Sharon McDougal and Stacey McKeel.

Southern Colorado Doulas that I know of are Emmy Harmon and Estansia Orozco and Heather Weigert and Stephanie Mead.

GOOD LUCK!
