I apologize if this has been posted before, I did a search here and came up with nothing.

I'm hoping to do a homebirth with this baby due in November. My first and only c-section occurred on 10/25/07 due to "failure to progress" after being induced at 39 weeks. I only dilated to 5cms during that birth but only labored for a grand total of 12 hours.

If we do decide to go the homebirth route (it is money and nothing else keeping us from doing it) I still plan on seeing an OB the duration of this pregnancy also (for several reasons, big one is since BCBS will pay for a hospital birth but not a homebirth, then darn it they are gonna pay for something, so dual care it is!).

I'm looking for someone, based on my history, who would be willing to act as my backup OB who won't force me into a c-section just because.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Jaci, this is Jennifer Jeppson. Looking forward to the vendor fair Thurs! Anyway, as for your question. I've heard great things about Dr. Vedder. I know moms that have had 2 and 3 c-sections that he has provided care for and hasn't pushed them into c-sections. He is very booked because so many natural minded moms flock to him, but if you talk to his nurse and not the front desk you are far more likely to get in to see him. Oh, and I don't know if you know it but there are a few midwives serving this area and at least 2 of them take payment options, including bartering for part of their fee. PM me if you want more info.

Jennifer, I will try to chat with you tonight! In case we don't, I thought Vedder was a family practice and not allowed to do VBACs anymore? Ideally he is who I'd like to see.

I don't know of any docs but I am curious about homebirth midwives willing to travel a bit.

I know a few, myself included. Who I would recommend depends on where you live in MN. Feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to pass on info.

I realize this thread is a little old but I wanted to respond.

Dr Vetter is a Family Practice Dr and not an obstetrician and is thus unable to follow VBAC patients.

Any of the OBs can/will take a VBAC, but there are several of them that dislike them a lot and will call a section right away.

I highly recommend Dr. Siri Fieberger over most of the other OBs for VBAC.

What was your reason for the induction the first time? How large was your baby? Who was your provider for that birth?

I have a friend who VBACed just this past Oct. I'll ask her, someone Indian or Ecuadorian, i believe, which is why the name didn't stick. Started with a P.

Preeti Srivatsa?

She hates doing VBACs. Wonderful lady though.
