Since the new bill passed, have any new midwives sort of opened up practice in Wyoming? I'm in Buffalo, and I'm currently seeing a midwife in Billings for a homebirth, but that's seriously 2 1/2 hours away, my last birth went pretty quickly, once I realized I was in labor, and paying for her mileage is expensive!! I'm hoping that someone in Casper, Gilette, or maybe Sheridan has opened up and is taking patients now. Do I have any luck?

The midwifery board has just been appointed by the governor. It will take a while for them to meet and develop the rules and regulations that need to be written and before licenses can be issued. Right now, I am unaware of any CPMs that reside IN WYOMING that would qualify for licensure according to the current laws. That is why the board members are primiarly from adjacent states.

Yep.. this exactly.

(and, actually.. if you're seeing a midwife in Billings, is it Pat? She's actually been appointed to the board that will license midwives in Wyoming!) The 2.5 hours can be daunting and scary, but hopefully you'll make it! (I had to drive up there... I was terrified of that, but it all worked out!)
