Hi! Just wondering if anyone knows of a good Dr. in Eastern, MT or Western ND that is isn't a total vaccine nazi??? We have given some vaccines, still doing research, looking for a ped/fam practice Doc that respects that. Any info would be great! Thanks.

I just saw your post and wanted to respond since no one else has yet.

You know, here in Sidney we have never been asked/told about vaccines since we moved here last fall with our now 2 1/2 year old daughter (or at least I can't remember). It has really surprised me; so far, my daughter has seen Dr. Carlos Trevino a few times (for sicknesses and a well-toddler check), and he hasn't mentioned it. We might try the new female pediatrician in town, just because my daughter has a very difficult time warming up to Dr. Trevino even though he is friendly and gentle.

Maybe it hasn't come up (vaccine issue) at the doctor's office because vaccines in this town are given through the public health dept., which is a totally different place.

In Bozeman (where we moved from), vaccines were given at the doctor's office; Dr. Andrea Cady in Bozeman was totally in support of my alternative and selectively spaced out vaccine schedule.

Blessings,

Cynthia

Cynthia, you may be right on the reason for them not being brought up.

Doctors are very, very hard to come by in Williston -- in fact, if I am not mistaken, none of them are taking new patients and you have to go to the walk-in clinic if you are not already a patient.

I wonder if you would have any luck with the clinic in Culbertson? I have heard that they are expanding their services, etc., but I don't know much about the particular practitioners they are bringing in.

I am a NW Washington native living in Williston, ND, where I have been since 2005. My hubby and I have six children (his, hers, ours), are foster parents, and run two businesses from home, including www.cyberdoulas.com -- the birth doula business that is changing my life!

Hello mothertrucker, I have taken DD to our public health dept in Miles City for a well child check, and when it came time for vaccines, I politely said I was choosing not to vaccinate at that time.  The nurse practitioner was very respectful of that, and just wanted to make sure I was basing my decision on good information.  She's not a MD, but that does not bother me.  They do well child checks, see you if your kid is sick, etc just like a MD.  I actually have not gone in for a well child check for either of my kids for a year and a half because I am not concerned about them, I know they are perfectly healthy, and I am afraid of being harassed about the vaccines, even if I wasnt last time, so I just dont go :)
