I'm beginning to feel pretty lonely and out of place here. We've lived here for a while, and while it suited dh and I when it was just the two of us, now that we have kiddos, I'm beginning to feel so different from all the other mothers I encounter around here. There are many things I love about it here--the parks, cleanness, proximity of everything. But I also feel that there is a Scottsdale culture that I just don't fit into. Whenever I talk to friends who live in Chandler or Peoria, it sounds as though there is so much more sense of community than what I find here. But then again, I understand that community is largely what you create. I don't really fit into the mom's group crowd around here... are there any Scottsdale mamas out there who might want some new friends. I have a 3yo dd and a 16mo ds.

I dont live in scottsdale but have you tried hanging around the library or barnes and noble? Sometimes 'crunchier' moms are there?

Where in Scottsdale are you? We just relocated from Mesa to the southern area of Scottsdale around Thomas and Hayden, across from the greenbelt. We have met a couple families already just hanging out there. If you are in that area, PM me.
I am also loving everything you said about the area. We are bike people and I am so amazed at how much of a bike culture exists here! Everywhere you go, there are riders and every business has about 4-5 bikes locked out front.

Maybe we need to start a group here?

I am so happy to see your post:

We are going to be moving to Scottsdale in June - we have picked it out for all the same reasons - we want to run/walk/bike the greenbelt, plus we picked a preschool in that area for dds 4 years and 2.5 years. I would love to get together with some crunchy mamas! Does PM mean personal message? I am not sure how to do that - sorry for being so clueless. If you start a group, please let me know.

We have been looking in the Thomas/Hayden area also. If you see any nice rentals, would you let me know? :

Just thought I'd give a shout out to the Sdale mamas!

We're near Scottsdale and Thomas, and always going over to bike on the greenbelt or on the canal (in the other direction). I love living in South Scottsdale! So close to the zoo, desert parks, bike/running trails and close to work (ASU).

Not sure what you're looking for in a rental but we're moving away (to NY) in July and I think our house will be going back up to rent then.

Let's plan a day next week to meet at maybe El Dorado park. I have plans on Monday and Wednesday but am free otherwise. Actually we're going to the library Wednesday morning but other than that, I'm free. We usually do a park after that anyway.
Any ideas?

If anyone wants to meet on Wednesday early afternoon, PM me and we'll settle on a location. We'll be going anyway so even if you THINK you might make it, let me know.

Anybody up for the park Wednesday or Thursday? It's short notice, I know, but I thought I'd try.

I can do Thursday, but I can't make it till 11 (gymnastics class). I'm in North Scottsdale, what area are you guys in? If you are in South Scottsdale, maybe we can do Chesnut or Chapparral?

Hi fellow AZ-ers. Pardon my thread crashing but I could use your help. I'm a Tucson mamma but I'm in Scottsdale for most of the week with my husband's work. I am looking for suggestions on what there is to do here that is inexpensive and fun for a wee toddler. We like parks, jogs, toy stores, you name it and we're staying near Scottsdale rd and Indian School rd. My evenings are full but daytime is empty. I appreciate your help. Thanks!

I'm in North Phoenix. We do have most Fridays after Noon (except for this Friday) and most weekends free. I'd just LOVE to meet some other crunchy (or crispy) folk out here! I've been in this area for a couple years now and I've never met anyone who even knows what crunchy means!

We came here from the Central CA bay area, and we left a small-ish community of AP'ers behind. I'd love to find another one around here. I know my DD misses the environment and her friends terribly! Please PM me!

Anyone interested in setting up a playdate for Friday (5/29)? PM me or just reply and let me know. I have a few suggestions for what we can do, but trust me, they're nothing elaborate. DD and I really just want to get out of the house and make some new friends. Any ideas are more than welcome, so LMK and I'll put something together.

Thanks!
