We've just been exposed for the 2nd time 2 days ago. The first time, the kids never showed any signs. Got my fingers crossed that this works. We will know in about 10 days or so. I'll keep you all posted in case anyone still needs to be around it.

curious-- how to decide when to try to expose your kids to CP? i have a two year old, whose getting her molars so now is not a good time, and a four month old baby. my little sister had a really mild case of chicken pox when she was five months old. then another sister (13 months younger than the one who got CP at 5 months) got it when she was around 11 or 12 years old-- bad case-- but the one who had it as a baby didn't get it again, so that mild case kept her immune. so, just wondering if people are trying to wait til your kids are a little older (preschool to young school age) or if they're ok with exposing a baby.

either way, i can't deal with CP right now, but i'm curious what other people think.

Someone just posted on the azmammas yahoo group yesterday that they were starting round 2 of the pox in their house. Its a moms group, not one specifically for pox parties. You might want to you check it out, its a fun group with interesting conversations- I think you can find it by searching yahoo groups, but have to join to see posts.

That's how we found our pox in AZ this fall. Good luck in your search.

Just read this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2656959

which states:

CONCLUSIONS: These results provide evidence that acetaminophen does not alleviate symptoms in children with varicella and may prolong illness.

My kids got CP from their Dad's shingles. Not even on purpose! He had them bad. I told him there was a reason for all his pain, and it was to get CP out of the way

My son woke up with a couple red spots on his face. As the morning progressed, he had more on his face and a couple on his arms. They're kind of big--1/2 an inch or so, raised, with white areas in the center. He's been playing all day and now that his friend left he is itching at them. He doesn't have a fever and his appetite is good. I don't know where he would have gotten chicken pox. I guess it still occurs naturally. I've even heard kids who were just vaccinated can spread them.

Okay, my little one hit the reset button when I was typing the above. I couldn't stop the process, but I was at least able to hit submit so I wouldn't have to retype.

I'm now thinking my son does NOT have CP. If he does, I will hold a cp party this weekend. I started posting this earlier to give everyone a heads up in case we have a party. We are in Tucson. Like I said, it just seems like it must be something else. I'll probably take him to the doctor tomorrow to verify.

I don't think they were chickenpox. If they were he had a REALLY mild case. But, if he did and I missed it, I'd think my daughter will end up with them at some point.

I have tried to get a t-shirt from a friend's kid. She found out it is illegal to knowingly send the pox pox through the mail and changed her mind. We have had 3 known exposures and nothing yet. I will look into the AZ looking for pox group.
