We're PCSing to Phoenix at the end of the month and I'm having a mini panic attack about not being able to find friends in the area.

I'm up in Anthem not sure how far away it is. What does PCSing mean?

Dh is in the Army, PCS means Permanent Change of Station, aka, moving.

I am in Peoria about 20 mins from the AFB. I am also in a West Valley AP group you can join when you arrive.

That sounds great! (All the responses do in fact, not against driving a little.) I'm nervous about my oldest starting kindergarden next year, finding a vax-free friendly doctor, and all that goes along with moving. The move is less than 2 weeks away and while I'm eager to get out of the cold, I'm so nervous about making new friends and sad about leaving good ones behind.

FYI you may not want to enroll in schools in AZ... they are not stellar. We do have some Charter options and private options. Homeschooling is a huge thing out here as well.

BTW welcome to AZ....

I made the move from NY about 18 months ago. I found it easy to get around. My youngest is in Kindy this yr. We looked at lots of Montessori schools and a few charters. There are a few Montessori schools in your area. There are naturopaths and NMD's here along with a few peds that accept non vaxing families.

I am in metro Phx
Plenty of good Dr's here, and lots of AP Moms.

I am about 5 min from Luke. Jets are our friends.

No worries, you will find friends here! There are tons of families around! Will you be living on base or off? Base, I believe, is in the Dysart school district which isn't great. The Litchfield District is good, if you can find a place in that area. There are Montessori schools nearby, too, and plenty of charter schools. We homeschool and if you do, there are tons of homeschoolers here. There are AP groups, LLL groups, Moms groups, homeschool groups - you'll find friends!

I go to a pediatrician and naturopath that are both friendly with non-vaxing that I can recommend. PM me when you get here and I'd love to get together!

Good luck with your move.

We are on base, and trying to get Emily into Crown Charter School, greatschools.org gave it a 9 out of 10 (Heritage, with their billboards saying they're the best got a 3 out of 10!) There are a few other charter schools I was looking at and going to try enrolling her in. I would love some playgroup info, Emily wants so badly to make friends. The kids at the end of the street are often not supervised and they're not very smart (they run in front of cars!) I have no intention of becoming the block's free babysitter and all-you-can-eat free buffet, so we're steering clear of them. Today is Emily's birthday and she wanted to have a party, but we didn't know any children, so we had to do a little celebration on our own. I think she really misses playing with kids other than her sister (though I'm glad she has her sister, it's a much easier situation I think.)

we live in el mirage, just a few miles from Luke. Jets are our friends, too
How old are your children? My oldest, Aidan is 3.. and Ivy is 2. we're always lookin' to make new friends.
Hope your birthday celebration went well! I know EXACTLY what you mean about unsupervised, unattended children on the street... we have a few of those down the road too!
