I know there have been posts about this but can't find them :P

My little sister just found out she's pg and I'm trying to help her find an OB or midwife covered by Medicaid. Unfortunately they don't cover the midwife and birth center I'm going to, though she's pretty set on having an epidural available so she probably wouldn't go there anyway.

I was seeing Dr. Moreland at the South Valley Women's Clinic, and she is nice enough, but I hated the amount of time I always had to wait at appointments just to see her for 3 minutes, and they were very slow about getting test results back. So my sister would prefer to see someone else.

So any recommendations would be helpful

I went to the Intermountain Nurse Midwives with DS, and I overheard lots of patient/receptionist convos about medicaid. They are at the new hospital on 53rd these days, I think.

Before I switched to my midwifes at the birth center, I was going to Dr. Michael Tweed. He was a nice OB, always took time to answer my questions, was supportive of having doulas at the birth, and had a low c-section rate. I didn't birth with him, but I liked him as my OB while I was PG.

Thanks

Contrariety- thank you, I will have her give them a call. I had heard there were some good CNMs at the new hospital there, but the hospital isn't listed on the ones covered by medicaid, maybe because it's new and they haven't updated the paperwork they gave her.

I forgot to mention she would prefer a female, she's not very comfortable with male OBs

The midwives up at the U (Birthcare healthcare I think its called?) are mostly great. They run a rotating practice, and I have been really impressed with the three that I've worked with as a doula.

Oh, cool, I didn't know Medicaid would cover B&F Place She is pretty set on having an epidural (watching me give birth naturally freaked her out lol) but I will let her know it is an option.

i was also going to recomend Becky Mcinnis, but i guess that is a no go.

there was one at St Marks. Linda Alexander. but then again i was looking for natural birth friendly providers.

also there are 2 different plans for medicaid in Utah. These recomendations were for the Healthy U plan, the Molina plan has different providers and does not cover either St Marks or the Birth and Family place.
