My dh and will be celebrating our 13th anniversary in January and I was thinking we can go on a little vacation. We have not been on a vacation together alone since our 3rd or 4th year of marriage, and we have rarely hired a sitter because of our dd's health issues and we just didn't think they were old enough for a sitter. So we have not been on very many dates since our oldest was born 7.5 years ago. This would be such a special thing. I want to surprise him with a nice place we can go. Our marriage is not in the best place right now and a lot of it is because we don't take the time to nurture our relationship. This would be a real boost.

His sister will be in the country (from India) and can watch the kids overnight for us. Does anyone have any ideas about a place not too far from Phoenix area where we can drive to and spend the day, spend the night and drive home the next day? We can't go too far away but maybe something like Tucson or Payson or in-between. Too bad it will be in Jan, as the weather will be a bit cold. Maybe we can find a place with a hot tub. Oh yeah, and we will be on a budget-- no $300 hotel rooms, but a step up from Motel 6 would be nice- like a B&B maybe?

I love Sedona for a romantic trip (two anniversaries there). Also, camping in Payson by the lake is so refreshing. Bisbee can also be a fun night stay. Tucson does have some great bed and breakfasts and hotels but I'm in Tucson so I usually choose to get away.

I'm still looking at places but this place looks great-- good prices, too, and the jacuzzi in the bedroom looks so nice, especially since it will be winter.

I agree that Sedona is nice, but since I was born and raised in AZ I have been there about a million times.

Sure you can come but you'd better get your own room.

My dad saw this one in the paper and it looks really interesting too! It's probably too far for this trip but maybe next time.
