Just found out I'm preggo and looking for a obgyn in santa monica/west la area. Someone who is open to acupuncture and homeopathic...

any thoughts would be great!

Do you really want an OB? If so, I can't recommend any. But I like the midwife group at UCLA and they practice as part of the larger OB if OB services are needed. They are conservative as far as midwifes go but they were supportive of alternative treatments and recommended both my doula and chiropracter to me.

Also, search the boards if you haven't. Tons of recs on here.

I met with one of the UCLA midwives, and was very turned off. They were nice enough, but seemed more restrictive when it came to testing and mandatory interventions than the OB's. I am currently seeing an OB at UCLA (he is really nice, and supportive of BF'ing while pregnant), but am planning a home birth.

I can give you my referral for an OB that I have had 2 babies with. Dr. Bliss is by far the most desired doctor but it's sometimes hard to get an appointment with her. They are all pretty comparable, though.

I would also be interested in some recs for homebirth midwives. I, too, was turned off by the UCLA experience (even though I am a die hard UCLA alumni!). I will be going to my first appointment at Plaza but want to see if I can find a midwife I feel comfortable with for my care.
