westside rentals is a really good resource for rentals in the greater los angeles area (although there is a fee to join -- i think it's worth it).  we used to live in pasadena and when we rented our house, we found it in the recycler (however, i haven't had much luck there since that).

happy hunting, good luck with the move and welcome to so-cal!

just spoke with a friend (who lives in pasadena) who has a friend who just moved there.  they found their current rental home on craigslist, but also mentioned listingbook.  apparently you need a real estate agent to hook up with a listinbook account, but she said that one will do it for you easily.

hope this helps.

Craigs List

Westside Rentals is generally worth the modest fee, many many postings

Also, if you have kids and are renrolling in public schools, make sure you understand the ratings. Pasadena has some good schools and some lousy schools. Arcadia for instances has great schools and only slightly higher property values. etc.

Even though it seems old fashioned, it might be helpful to buy a Thomas guide. I really liked being able to mark it up when I first moved

i LOVE my thomas guides.  i've kept them in my car since i moved here in 1999.  yes, they're old fashioned, but still come in handy.

speaking of schools, south pasadena and la canada are also great.  and arcadia -- one of the best in the state.
