We're unfortunately stuck with Medi-Cal, and I need to establish a relationship with a ped for my newborn. We were hoping for Healthy Families, but don't qualify. I found an awesome doctor, only to be told we can't use him because of Medi-Cal. So, I need to find someone pretty quickly because little man needs a newborn appointment. I'd really like to find a doctor that isn't going to push us into vaxing, especially since we have a family history of allergy to tetanus vaccines and don't want to mess with the others. Our son is also intact, and I'd like to find a doc that is intact-friendly.

I have Stiff Person Syndrome and my other car is a candy apple red Rascal. Feel free to ask me about it. wheelchair.gif

You can check out Kaiser, they have a program similar to Healthy Families, that is low-cost (we pay $24/mo for five children to be on the plan). Our current ped is fantastic, we don't vaccinate and my boys are intact, and we've never had an issue with him. If you get hooked up with Kaiser and want his name, message me.

I don't have any recent experience with Medi-Cal, so I can't help you there.

Thank you. We only qualified for Medi-Cal at the time, but have applied for Healthy Families now. I'm not really fond of Kaiser, but I have heard that they may be the best option by a few people now.

My cousin (who has spina bifida and the many issues that come with that) has had a horrible, no good, awful time with Kaiser. Which turned me off to Kaiser for a long time. And then I found horrible, no good, awful docs outside of Kaiser. And decided that maybe I just needed to be hyper vigilant in the doc office. Which I am. lol

Our experience with Kaiser has been, overall, good and fine and acceptable. I really like our current ped. The last one was tolerable. Another ped in the same office is never allowed to see my children again, and it's documented on all their charts that he is not to see them. It takes all kinds......

We love our pediatrician at Sutter Davis.  Dr. Oberholtzer (Dr. O).  They accept Medi-Cal.  :)

agree that Dr. O is great! (my boys were giggling the whole appt. at their last annual check up)

He never makes us feel rushed, gives us time, is great with kids.
