We've got a nice coating of the ash here as well. I'm not digging it at all, since I'm on inhaled steroids to enable me to breathe as it was... BEFORE the ash. UGH!

My lungs are going to be very angry if it gets stirred around much.

I am on an inhaler too, but I avoid it as much as possible as I don't like the "buzz" from it.. but I might be forced to use it.

I thought about staying home from work tomorrow.. I still might- but I don't want to be cooped up at home either.

I totally understand. I HATE these inhalers. I hate how jittery they make me. I don't normally have to take them, but I'm coming off 2 months of pneumonia so I'm on sembicort and albuterol for another month. I've not needed the albuterol hardly at all, but I'm noticing I've had to use it today (and I only went outside for a quick moment).

Hope you aren't effected too much!

I have asthma, too, and an inhaler. I used to use it a lot. Then when pregnant, was told there is now some pill, can't remember the name now, I think it started with an s, and was safe during pregnancy to prevent asthma related breathing problems. Well, I took it for a year until insurance ran out. It was awesome. Singulair might be what it was called. I no longer needed my inhaler! Well, I haven't been taking it for over a year, but haven't needed my inhaler much, either.

Is it true they were wrapping planes at the airport in gigantic sheets of plastic?

I heard they were doing that on base, but at the airport itself, I hadn't heard.

I think that the airlines are going to take a big financial hit before this is over, though. So many flights had to be redirected to Seattle, etc for fueling.. it's going to cost.

They wrapped the computers but no planes as of 4am Monday morning when we flew out.

Sorry to poke my head in here - just got back from a week in Girdwood with a desire to move to AK more than you can believe, despite getting stuck in the ash in Anchorage with a baby, flight canceled, etc.

Now I'm going to go lurk around and plot my move.

He's got 7 other people with him...and if they stick with the same airline i think they dont' have to pay extra, or they don't have to pay as much, or something...anyway, they're booked to fly up on the 2nd. It's frustrating, but actually it's been snowing a bunch here so the seaplane hasn't gotten out since friday anyway, so he just would have been stuck in juneau at least they're stuck someplace new (and DH knows the area and can take them around...also my ILs live there, and that's where my maternity stuff is all in storage, so DH is getting it for me so I don't have to ask MIL to dig it out and ship it up...so there is a silver lining.)

I've been hiding in my house pretty much all winter. I'm VERY claustrophobic. I can't wait for the rain/snow/sleet/hail to let up a bit so I can get out.
Gosh, I can't wait to move out of pelican. I'm so sick of this town. I'm a pretty patient and resilient person, but it all seems to go out the window when I'm pregnant, cuz I'm not coping well with anything lately.

I would love to! Homer might be a little far out for me - 4h from Anchorage right? Sat next to a man from Homer on my flight out - sounds like a great town. We're planning a trip next summer and will be doing our homework until then -Hopefully we'll be in a financial position to start looking at properties and really get going on the move.
