My sister-in-law is getting ready to move to Oahu with only a month left in her pregnancy and needs some advice about finding a great CNM in the area. Right now she's especially interested in finding out about birth centers if there are any but would also consider the right hospital or home birth practice. Any input about midwifery personalities, practices, tendency toward interventions (or not) would be greatly appreciated.

They will be living in Honolulu so that would be their preference. Thanks so much for your help!

I just delivered at Castle Medical Center w/Linda Chong Tim CNM and had a great experience. They didn't blink an eye about not vaxing, etc. I was induced and was able to still labor in the jacuzzi tubs, etc. I was able to go natural/med-free. The ped on staff is awesome too, Dr Reis, we see her as well. She is non-vax friendly.

There are no birth centers as far as I know. I've heard good things about Queens too.

Ladies: Thank you for the information. I am looking into couple of the midwife CNM groups available since I am looking to go with a different care provider for this pregnancy.

I really am comfortable with delivering at Kapiolani although my sister did just have her baby at Castle.

We'll see how it goes. I hope to get to learn more about the two practices I'm looking into.

If she is looking into homebirth, I highly recommend Dr. Lori Kimata of Sacred Healing Arts. She is amazing!
