I found one I really like but NO ONE would ship it to me..

why in the world is it true that we live in an era where people can take a vacation trip into space, but carseats are not eligible for shipping to Alaska?

My sister made my day, though. She said not only would she ship me the carseat, she would buy me the one I wanted, too!

I like this one because the infant padding seems like it will keep the baby from flopping around too much, plus the headrest is removable, to make the seat smaller while rear facing..

We had the same problem when we wanted to get Aiden a 5 pt harness higher than 40 lbs. We couldn't afford a Britax, but Wal-Mart was having a sale on a Graco that had good reviews and was in our budget, but none of the Wal-Marts around had one in stock. None of them knew if they were going to get any more. Wal-Mart.com wouldn't ship to me OR to the local store. I checked around to other websites thinking maybe I could get it somewhere else, even if I had to pay full price, and nothing. I ended up having it shipped to my in-law's house in MI, since we were planning a trip there anywhere, and swapped seats (their extra car seat was expired).

Another brick & mortor store to check out is in Eagle River - Belly, Baby and Beyond. She does clothes, slings, diapers, maternity & nursing clothes, some toys, and consignment clothings. It looks like she's picked up some locally made consignment items that S&S carried as well. I've gotten what I consider very generous credit for some maternity clothing I brought in - but she is picky (no visible wear).

The owners sister has a women's used clothing store in the adjacent space in the strip mall (same entrance).

Liza - Bird watching, tree hugging, dirt eating, kinda-crunchy momma to my cub (3) and bird (1). treehugger.gifcold.gifdust.gifflower.gif

I've been in there a few times. I bought a couple of maternity items and some nursing bras.. glad she picked up some more items that S&S had! Unfortunately I don't get out to Eagle River much, but now that we know we are having a girl, maybe a special trip is called for.
