I am an excited, first-time mom-to-be and would love to have a comforting person in the room with my DH and me as we welcome our little one! I'm looking for a volunteer doula; I'm pretty calm, so I am very open to a doula-in-training seeking a qualifying birth to be a part of this experience with us.

Please contact me for more details, I look forward to meeting you!

Student midwives work with registered midwives.

Here is some contact info for Toronto area midwives:
https://members.aom.on.ca/test/sourc...ch_process.cfm

Call asap as they fill up fast. Midwifery service is covered by ohip, so there is no cost for using a midwife at home or at hospital.

I don't quite understand -- I get why you might be looking for a volunteer doula, but why a volunteer midwife? Midwives are covered under OHIP in Ontario; you can have a trained, experienced midwife as your primary pregnancy care provider for free.

They are in hot demand in Toronto, so you might need to get on some waiting lists, but it is your best option if you want a midwife at the birth.

Best of luck with your birth.

Hi! Congratulations on your pregnancy! Have you checked out the DoulaCARE website? You may want to contact the representative for the area you're in and she may be able to give you a list of Doulas who would be able to volunteer to support you! http://www.doulacare.ca/index.cfm
