Calling all Earth Angels!

Hello, my name is Colleen (39). My husband Jeff (37) and daughter Emma (2 1/2) and I are looking for our tribe - our home. We envision a conscious community where our children can play together, learn together, grow together. We hope to add value to your community (and the global community) by sharing our talents as organic gardeners and farmers, sustainable living advocates, unschoolers, attachment parents, and authentic communicators. We 'make a living' in mainstream society as corporate trainers, college and university teachers, life coaches, writers, Chamber board members, and through web design and marketing for entrepreneurs. We both believe it is important to be present with our daughter, so we choose work that allows us to be 'home' with Emma as much as possible.

Currently we live in rural Ontario. We are in a position to move pretty much anywhere in North America.

In the past few weeks we have visited Ottawa, Ithaca, and are looking at the Blue Ridge Mountain Area, Alberta and BC -- we are open to anywhere. We are trying to decide between 'opting out' of society completely by being fully sustainable and accepting that perhaps we are to live conventionally for awhile while making conscious choices about our lifestyle.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where our tribe may be living -- where are the holistic-minded parents? Where are the organic markets, stores, and farms? Where are the people who believe that it takes a village to raise a child (co-op babysitting, co-op un/homeschooling? Are there people out there looking for responsible families to share in their homestead - costs, cooking, construction, farming, child raising, etc.?

Thank you for your advice, guidance and insights!

I think there are several communities in the West Kootenay region of BC that fit the bill. Nelson in particular but also many other smaller towns in the surrounding area.

Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.)0(

When you visited Ottawa, did you tour the Chelsea/Wakefield/Masham/Rupert area of Quebec? We might just have what you are looking for! Let me know if you want more info.

Happy mumma to my boys Henny Tom (Nov 30, 2008), Arlo Odie (Oct 5, 2010), and baby SISTER! due mid-Dec 2014.
