My DD is 2 1/2. Never been to the dentist (don't really approve of most dental procedures). She has had ongoing tooth decay for about a year. I have tried to stop the decay through nutrition (i.e. fermented CLO, high vitamin butter oil, home made broths, low sugar intake, etc.) But it just won't stop!!! I'm going crazy. I've even tried homeopathy. I took her to a new doctor after having bad experiences with her previous pediatrician. He is holistic minded and approves of my choices to continue breastfeeding, not vaccinate etc. (a breath of fresh air compared to previous doctors). He recommended a dentist who is not necessarily holistic (says holistic dentist are hard to come by). I just scheduled an appointment but am already feeling nervous about it. After reviewing their website they explain that the only cause of early childhood tooth decay is drinking at night including breast milk. She's never been on a bottle but does nurse at night. The pattern of the decay suggests that it has nothing to do with nursing at night. The decay is on her top teeth only and started in the front. I'm so worried about what this dentist is going to say, and I don't want to divulge that I still nurse her if her only suggestion will be to stop. Furthermore, we have no insurance and no money to pay for ridiculous dental procedures like capping, pulling teeth, x-rays, etc. I'm also very scared about the idea of putting my DD under anesthesia.
Has anyone in the DFW area had any experience with this that ended happily. Any suggestions on a practitioner in the area that has had luck with treating ECC? Please any suggestions are appreciated!

I'm sorry--I don't know of any good pediatric dentists in Dallas, but I wanted to pass this information on to you. It can't hurt to go in well armed. Good luck.

Does breastfeeding cause tooth decay?
