Hello. I just moved to Austin from Washington State and my two boys ages 3 and 20 months need to get the chicken pox, otherwise I am going to have to vaccinate them. Does anyone in the area have it naturally?
My Naturopath recommend I try asking in these forum.

Thanks !

Why "have to"?

"It should be a rule in all prophylactic work that no harm should ever be unnecessarily inflicted on a healthy person (Sir Graham Wilson, The Hazards of Immunization, 1967)."

If the exemption process is what you're concerned about, Texas has a pick-and-choose philosophical exemption. You just mark check boxes on the form, no explanation is needed as to why you're choosing some and not others.

Can you explain that further? My daughter got the first chicken pox vaccine when she was younger and I was pressured by my pediatrician. Now I am registering her for kindergarten and they told me she NEEDS the 2nd one or they will not register her. So I am at a loss.
My two boys have not had any vaccines for CP and I would like them to catch it naturally. My naturopath told me to check here for someone who might have a child who has it and can share a lolly pop or something with them.

Thanks for all your help and advice. It's appreciated!

mom4 - You can file an exemption and if it is a public school they HAVE TO take your child if you have the proper paperwork. Google texas vaccine exemption or something like that. DH & I did this to avoid having DS vaxed at birth (and since then). He is not in school yet, but, if you have legal documentation they cannot turn your child away unless it is a private school.

Do not worry! This can be done! The school may even have some type of vaccine form and you can just check "no vaccinations for philosophical or religious reasons" or whatever it says.

I would still have a legal, notorized document though for your personal file in case it ever comes into question.

OP, I live in Dallas. Both of my girls are in school, and we don't do vaccines. All you have to do is file an exemption; it's easy to do!

1) Request an exemption here: https://webds.dshs.state.tx.us/immco/affidavit.shtm

2) Fill the form out, click submit.

3) You will receive your official vaccine exemption in the mail within a couple of weeks. (I got mine in about 4 days if I remember correctly!)

4) Go have the exemption notarized.

5) Turn this exemption in in place of, or in supplementation to, shot records. It might help to print this out and turn it in too, so that the law is clear: http://info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/...=1&ch=97&rl=62

Oh, and OP, I operate this new facebook group, in case you're on fb and are interested in keeping an eye out for chicken pox in TX! http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php...8523998&ref=ts
