I'm expecting again, and am looking at options other than Baylor downtown. My labor/delivery was great at Baylor, but I did not like what they did with my daughter (took her from me b/c she was resuscitated and claimed she had no suckling instinct and wouldn't let her come to me until she had taken X amount of formula from a bottle). She BF for 3.25 years. Also, HATED, the intrusions from the hospital staff. Maybe I should ask for early release...
Hi! I am so sorry that you had an unfortunate experience at Baylor Dallas after the birth of your little one. You COULD ask for an early release but it also depends on what your OB/Midwife says. Some are comfortable with that, some are not. : ( The odds are more favorable since it will be your second birth vs. the first. You might want to consider a doula, as well, since they can be an advocate for you and keep your intrusions at a minimum from the hospital staff. There are many great doulas out there and I also am a certified doula, as well. If you are looking for a natural birth/minimal intervention birth, Baylor Dallas is one of the best hospitals that I have worked with.
