We will be moving back to Yukon in about 3 months and we are needing to find a doctor who will not "fire" us for not vaccinating. My oldest had reactions to his first set of shots and his ped at the time recommended that we no longer vaccinate him. Shortly after, I myself was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease that can be triggered from vaccines so needless to say, my 2 younger children have never had a single shot in their lives. We had been seeing a family doc where we live now and love him dearly and he was fine with us not vaxing and very respectful of our choice, but when they recently hired a ped into their practice, they changed the rules not allowing unvaxed kids anymore and fired us after 5 years of being their patients.

I would love to find another family doc who won't give us trouble and would see the whole family and I'm willing to go anywhere in the area just for a good doc. Any recommendations??? Thanks so much!

It looks like your post might have been missed so I'm bumping it up for attention. :bump: Anyone have a recommendation to share?

We moved fairly recently, and I've heard that Dr. Audra Fox in Edmond is quite supportive - but does like to see non-vaccinating children for regular well-child visits, just so that any questions regarding "due diligence" or parental care are answered (for example, if Child Protective Services/Department of Child and Family Services/area equivalent comes a-calling, the doctor can say, "Yes, I see them regularly, and they don't vaccinate BUT they are invested in the health and well-being of the child and the lack of vaccination is not due to neglect.").

That being said, that is word of mouth from other people - I have no personal experience with this physician.

There are a few natural parenting stores in the area with Facebook pages. I recall there being a no-vax-friendly pediatrician discussion on one of the pages fairly recently. You might want to give that a try.

Dr. Fox and Fields in Norman will not push you to vax, but now require you to sign a vaccine refusal form that states you are knowingly endangering your child's life. You can not provide your own form and they will fire you if you don't sign theirs. I have also heard good things about Audra Fox and will be trying her next. She actually studied natural medicine in college. Since OK does not recognize a Naturopath as a Dr she is a blessing for insurance purposes.
