In any case, he also has 3 older sibs that will get them if he does have them, so we should have plenty of opportunity for pox parties!

I'll update if its definately pox!
That is weird. It sounds so much like what my 6 yr old has, except she has lots of spots. Face, neck, trunk, butt, and a couple on one leg. I thought it was pox, but then the spots never developed into blisters. They stayed pimply looking and then got tiny scabs on day 5-6. Now she broke out in hives all over today..day 7. I took her to the doc a couple days ago and she said it didn't look like typical pox, nor did it look like an allergy rash or anything else. Her best guess was an atypical pox presentation. She said there was one similar case she recently saw. Did your son's spots itch? DD had hardly any itching until these hives popped out. She may have been feverish, but we were camping and it was so hot, I couldn't tell. She wasn't eating much and complained of a stomach ache. Now I'm waiting to see if my other DD gets it. And hoping it is giving them chickenpox immunity!

Wait, where are you, Oregon or Washington? I had assumed Bothell was the one near Seattle?

What is the youngest for pox? I think we will have a pretty narrow window with our large age gap -- ds being seven and dd being 5 months. I guess we will have to wait until dd is at least 18 months?

My son has pox at the moment. Probably not contagious much longer, spots are starting to heal but still has some open. He was exposed by his friend a couple of weeks ago. Said friend's little sister also has pox right now, along with one of their other friends who was also exposed. We have exposed more people this time around so if you don't catch it this wave, there will probably be another in a couple of weeks! We're in Vancouver, WA.

Pookietooth- I have always heard from mainstream peds that babies under 1 year should NOT get it. Youngest one I know of was 9 weeks (not intentional), and he's fine. The other two I know who have it at the moment are 7.5 months and 11 months. Also both fine.

Hello All!

I am a mother of a 5-year-old son living in the Portland/Vancouver area, and I am looking to expose him to the chicken pox. If your child has it, or if anyone you know has it, please reply with contact information so that we can arrange a playdate. Thank you for any help you can offer!

I made the mistake of posting this on my local Craigslist and received a firestorm of hate-mail and allopathic propaganda about how 'dangerous' this is. Although I've been reading Mothering for ages, I didn't realize that there was a forum. Fortunately, some kind soul from Craigslist told me about it...and here I am!

I am truly happy to be here amongst like-minded parents who really 'get' the idea of natural, healthy parenting.

We have them here on Hayden Island in North Portland! Just showed up late last night. We're on a sailboat, though, so meeting up might be easier at someone else's home. I'm going to be keeping her out of the sun, because she has quite a few on her face, and my son developed some scars on his arms when he was in the sun with his pox last summer. Luckily they faded after awhile, but I'd rather not risk that with her face.

Feel free to email me: nicole.m.murray@gmail.com

I am a mom to 3 from S Oregon who will be traveling through the state and up into Washington(as far as Seattle) in 2 weeks. I would be happy to be volunteer my kids as "vectors" to transmit these pox far and wide! If anyone between Medford(heck, even N CA) and Seattle has kids with pox or are busy spreading pox to others and will have kids with pox(hopefully!) anytime between May 17th and memorial day,I would love to stop by and expose my kids. I ,in turn, will open my S Oregon home to any parents here locally who want some lifelong immunity for their kids! I understand that we really can't plan these things, but it seems as if there are a few kids north of us who have it and may infect other children who would be contagious while we are around. Thanks in advance and Happy Pox Hunting!

,Peace loving mama to twin girls(06/05) and my sonshine (04/98) "This is the life!"
