So DH and I are wanting to start TTC. I've been set on a home birth but
our insurance won't cover it. It does cover the Puget Sound Birth Center though.

I've also been looking at some of the local hospitals(Evergreen and Overlake). The latest stats I've seen for c-sections at these hospitals were 30%-40%. I am not at all comfortable with this.

Does anyone have any experience with PSBC? Would you recommend them?

I don't even know what questions to ask when we interview. Thanks in advance

I know lots of people who have birthed at PSBC and been happy. And there are many midwives with priviledges there besides the ones that are on the website there. So you may have more options.

There is also the eastside birth center in bellevue. I was very happy with the midwives there (though I had a homebirth).

Happily married to my dh, mama to ds1 (01/2005), ds2 (07/2007)  and dd (07/2009).

I have attended many births as a doula at PSBC. The rooms are lovely and the space feels good! Why don't you take a tour to see for yourself! Also, i would recommend you contact Jane Peterson, www.communitymidwives.com (a fellow MDC poster here!) who is a fantastic midwife who catches babies at Puget Sound Birth Center!

Good luck as you get ready to welcome a baby into your life!

Ok, thanks for the info

Can we really take a tour even if I'm not pregnant yet? Picking a provider feels so daunting. Which is why I'm starting to search now

You bet, Jane Peterson may be able to combine a meet and greet with her and a tour there at the same time!

Jane was the midwife who caught my son at PSBC and I was very pleased with the experience. When we decide to have baby #2 Jane will be my first call.

You can call the birth center now and request a tour. The receptionist can set it up. Really easy to do.

I've had two births there. The last one was a mal-positioned 10lb 4oz baby and would have surely been a c-section in a hospital. The first one was a relaxing ideal waterbirth with music, lowlights, etc. Ali and Val were my midwives both times.
