I am newly pregnant for the first time and am interested in some recommendations for midwives near Auburn WA. We are considering either a birth center or home birth and are willing to travel minimally. I would like a midwife as close to home as possible. Any ideas?

I don't know of any IN Auburn and there aren't any birth centers in Auburn itself... But I know there is a good midwife in Enumclaw who fills up fast. And there is a place in Lake Tapps that has its own birth center and midwives.

I see Dawn at Firstlight Midwifery and she can deliver at home or at The Birthing Inn in Tacoma... which is a beautiful place. Dawn works out of an office on the bottom floor of her home in Tacoma. You might find it a bit of a drive, but I still used her when I lived in Sumner. She's awesome.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked up both of those midwives online and I will certainly contact them. I am hoping to find somewhere I don't have to drive too far to. Also, I just don't know how to tell which midwife to choose over all the others. I suppose they are all great. It is just hard to tell when you are looking at a big list of names.

They all should offer free meet and greet appointments. I'd never chose a midwife without spending some time talking with them in person. Call them up and set some appointments! You will know who is best for you once you meet them.
