Join Kitsap Birth Collective, Owners and Staff of Poplar Heights
Birth Center and Midwives in this two day intensive training on July 16 & 17, 2011.

This workshop is for experienced doulas, labor and delivery nurses, midwifery students, chiropractors, massage therapists and anyone else in the birth community who may already be involved in assisting mothers at birth center or homebirths.

Our workshop midwives are:

* Carol Gautschi, LM, CPM Carol has been catching babies for 30 years. She's also well traveled as she tours the world, lecturing and teaching skills to baby midwives with Midwifery Today.

Terra Sowinski, LM, ND Terra is both a licensed midwife and naturopath. She's a wealth of wisdom with her extra knowledge.

* Mifawnwy Decker Carlson, LM Mif is one of WA State's earliest licensed midwives. Mif has a heart for service to mothers and those women who serve them.

In this intensive 2 day workshop the midwives will teach a fast-paced list of skills and practice. Everything from HIPPA/Birth Etiquette as it applies to the midwife's/Birth Center assistant to the assistant's
role in emergency transfer. We'll practice IV set ups, drawing up meds for injections, assisting mother with first latch and newborn assessment. Learn the ways to make yourself the right hand to any midwife and further your skills if you plan a path to midwifery for yourself.

We'll have pregnant models in for practice and our lunch/dinners will be catered in with both traditional and gluten free choices (included in your registration). While the birth center and midwives can not guarantee you will work
as a midwife assistant, these skills will certainly add to your packet of experience.

Lodging will be available at the Center for an extra $60 (total) for the workshop. You may bring your non-mobile breastfed baby to the workshop if you bring along a paid adult (just the $60 lodging) or teen over 16 to care for the infant during high needs periods in a quiet area of the Center.

Registration Fees & Cancellations

The workshop registration fee is open now June 5th to July 1st. The registration is $250 if paid by check or money order. PayPal registration will be $260. Register with a friend at the same time with a note included and you will *both* receive $25 off lodging.

Registrations received after July 1st, please add $50. Registration closes on July 11th.

In the event of Kitsap Birth Collective workshop cancellation, your registration will be refunded. In the event you must cancel, you have the option of selling your registration to another participant or to apply your registration to a future KBC event.
