I'm about to move to Portland and just found out I'm pregnant. There are so many midwives out there I don't even know where to start. I'd love some recommendations!

Also, if you've had a bad experience with a midwife, please let me know about that too.

Thanks!

There are so many!

I'm not sure what will be happening with my midwives  post September, as one of them is retiring.  But their names are Marilyn Milestone & Beth Sagli - they operate under Creative Space Midwifery.

A couple others that I know of are Lennon Clark, Ellie Legare, and Heather Hack-Sullivan.  Friends have used all of them and love them.

Hope that helps point you in the right direction.

Feel free to come visit the  Portland MamaBaby Center when you are in town.  We have a donation based prenatal/well baby clinic and can help you find resources and midwifery care.

I'll definitely do that! You're actually one of the two midwives that a friend suggested to me.

Ellie Legare and Heather Hack Sullivan were both my MWs for my HBA2C.  They are both wonderful!  Either one of them would be great.  Two friends of mine have used Ellie recently and they both loved her.  I really can't say enough good things about either of them :)

Patricia Couch attended me with births of both of my children, and I believe she's moving her practice up to Andaluz in November. I can't say enough good things about her, including her calm and swift action after a post-partum hemorrhage during my son's birth.

As an aside, she is also GREAT at drawing blood, a gripe I've had with practitioners of many kinds all my life!

I can't say enough good things about Ellie Legare.  She was my midwife for my HBA2C.  She was amazing!

I just birthed with the assistance of Heather Hack-Sullivan and she was WONDERFUL! Very knowledgeable and supportive, warm, caring, personable. Just the best!

I went with Catherine Schaeffer from A Gentle Beginning and loved her! She's a naturopath and is also a CNM but just does home births. She's really great.
