I live in Redmond, WA, and I am searching for a good homebirth midwife. Any suggestions?

Oh Yes! Lake Washington Midwives, Val and Allie and Tracy are amazing!  I would get pregnant again just to hang out with them for 9mo. :)

If you want more details, let me know....We moved here from MPLS about 2 years ago and we had our third babe with Allie this past January. Our older girls were born in MPLS.

I'm a patient of Roxanne Spring of Snoqualmie Valley Midwifery and really love her. She has two offices, one in Duvall and one in North Bend. Not super close to you but Duvall isnt too far either. Her personality and philosophy really clicked for me. I was highly critical of the type of midwife I wanted. I highly suggest setting up a meet and greet appointment with her. I'm due next month so I can't attest to her actual delivery abilities.

I had a hard time finding a midwife who would do a VBAC. Finally was recommended to Suzanne Thompson in Seattle. I have a consultation next week.

We used the PSBC midwifes with our son (who is 11) and are using them again this summer.  I would highly recommend them.  Heike delivered DS, but we went with the other group (Allie, Tracy, Melissa, Val) this time because of scheduling (they have Monday/ Wednesday appointments, Heike's group does Tuesday/ Thursday).  We had some complications with DS and it was WONDERFUL how calm Heike remained (while being perfectly safe) and if we had been in a hospital there would have been a mandatory NICU stay (which, now, 11 years later science has backed up what the midwives were doing at that time and it has become the official stance).  Anyway, highly recommended.  My only issue with them this time around is that there are FOUR of them, so it's hard to get as good of a feel for them when there were only two.

I tried PSBC, but they do not do any VBACs. It's becoming much more difficult to find midwives who do in WA state.

Did you ask them for a recommendation?  I'll ask the doulas I know in the area and get back to you :)

I'm north of the city and with Cascade Midwives in Everett. They are wonderful. I'm not sure about their VBAC policy, but I can't say enough good things about Darlene and Carrie. I haven't met the third midwife in the practice yet, but if she's anything like the other two she's got to be excellent. I definitely recommend giving them a call.

One of the doulas I know recommended her.  Good luck with your consultation.

The other said that most HBAC providers do so on a case by case basis.  She recommended you go to the Seattle ICAN meeting for additional info:

They have a closed facebook group you may be able to get info on as well:

Good luck!

Well, I've been shuffled around once again. I met with Suzanne, but she's unavailable in October when I'm due. Good news is, she recommended me to another midwife who has had a VBAC herself, so I'm excited to talk to her.

Charlene Campbell is really close to you in Issaquah and she is fantastic. She has a really good take on nutrition for pregnancy and is really flexible in her practice style so she appeals to moms of all persuasions. Her company name is BirthJoy Midwifery.
