BIG CHANGES for me this year!

2014 has brought about a great shift in my life, and it has me super amped :bgbounce

We've decided to start our family, so this is our first pregnancy, and NOW we have been given the opportunity to move to the Portland, Oregon area (which has been our DREAM for awhile now), so we plan on packing up and moving quite quickly, within the first trimester.

So many nuances all at once... and I'm thrilled about it! Both of us are. I'm lucky to be with my soulmate, Joel. He is extremely excited about starting a family together, and both of us are excited about embarking on the "OREGON TRAIL" as we call it.

Living the dream. I'm ridiculously ecstatic :love

Although we are surfing a wave of positivity, I do have to acknowledge that I will be leaving most of my friends and family behind. SO I've come here hoping that I can build a network of friends. I am SO full of love and happiness and I want to share it with others. :hippie

Still hoping to meet other mothers/new mothers in the area, or who are planning on moving there soon.

Hello! Nice to meet you! We will be renting in Portland, and while we live there we plan on exploring more of the state, and possibly Washington, to look for a spot to settle into. Thanks for the good wishes! Good luck with your move as well, where are you moving from? We will surely be exploring the Salem area.. you say you're moving back?

Awesome! I'm glad to meet you here! Thanks for posting :shy

I am curious.. how long have you each lived in Oregon? I am curious to know more about the state from people who are more familiar with it!

We lived in Corvallis for several years and then came home to New Mexico. We have wanted to go back since we left and a job in my husbands field was finally available. I used to work as an environmental educator, but now I'm a stay at home mama. What brings you to Oregon?

Currently I live just south of Portland. I left TN and moved to Oregon back in 2004.  I've lived in various parts of the state ever since, so wow, I guess it's been 10 years now.  Crazy!  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions--I'm always happy to help.

Sorry things have been crazy the entire last month while we moved and settled in (we still aren't completely settled. Haha).

We moved into a cute old house in St. Helens, about an hour outside of Portland (north, toward Longview and Kelso). For now, it's perfect for the two of us working on starting our family while we save up money so we can eventually (hopefully soon) buy land in Southern Oregon, around Klamath Falls. We dream of being self sustainable, and we moved to Oregon because we know our dream is possible here. Plus the environment here is gorgeous (though, I do wish they weren't logging all of our national forests.. That doesn't look so nice.)

Our landlord here has given us the go ahead to have our own garden here, and keep chickens, so we are pretty thrilled to be here for now. Hopefully we will be able to save on cost of living my growing our own food, so we can use those savings toward some land. treehugger.gif

I write articles for a couple of online blogs (& sell my paintings online, occasionally), and Joel can do just about everything so he does many odd-jobs for people (carpentry and lawncare, he has a sole proprietorship). Right now we are mainly living off my salary, since he hasn't made many contacts here yet, but that is plenty for us to live off of and save from. We are thrifty people winky.gif

It's so great to be in Oregon!!!
