Road trip.... go see the cheese factory and then get an ice cream there. I've done this a handful of times and never been disappointed. Always free.

Picnic at Council Crest park. Views of several mountains to the North and the Tualatin mtns and the coastal range to the west and south. There's a lot of history here.. the native Americans used this as a lookout and meeting place, there has been an amusement park and trolleys here in the past.

Is there a singer in your group? There's an acoustic sweet spot here in the center of the observation platform. Makes an average singer sound amazing!

Pittock Mansion Although a fee is charged for admission to the mansion, part of an amazing day can be spent wandering the grounds and caretaker's quarters at no charge. On a clear day, the massive front lawn provides amazing views of the city, rivers, and famous area mountain peaks including Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and even Washington's Mt. Ranier. Pittock Mansion is located off Burnside just after it enters the Washington Park area. Bring a picnic lunch!

There's a sweet little wading pool and fountain there, too.

Kid's activities sponsored by Radio Disney... so probably pretty mainstream but might be fun to try.

Bumpity bump. Those movies in the park are happening now. And if you haven't tried something on this list, choose something and get going. School starts again in just a month!
