Great Intro to Homebirth
review by mama_y_sol
The Essential Homebirth Guide is a great introduction to homebirth, especially for first time parents. It's a book that is very easy to read, in a Q & A format. I can see this book being great to give to partners or family that may not be on board 100% with homebirth. It's not preachy or pretentious, just a great overall guide to homebirth.
The book is very well organized. It's easy to find the information you need, and skip around if you are looking for specific information. The end of the book has very positive and inspiring homebirth stories that I really enjoyed reading. I also liked the tone of the book and they way they made homebirth seem very normal, natural, and safe. The tone is positive, laying out the facts without being overly pushy or biased.
The book offered a lot of natural solutions to common pregnancy related issues that other books don't. The chapter on preparing your home for the birth also seemed very helpful, as it was laid out in a clear, concise manner.
This book would also make a great gift to a first time mother who is just starting to research her birthing options.
