This is one of the first M&D items that my kids got. We loved that they were wooden and gave the kids a chance to practice cutting fruit. My kids however often forgot that this was play food and would stick the pieces in their mouths. Not thrilled with paint, and certainly not with it chipping.
We have the Veggie/burger set and it has been played with for years with all kids that come into our house. At least several times a week, the kids are playing with the food, cutting them up, etc. I love how they are lovely wooden pieces and the velcro has held up well. This is one of my kids' favorites!
Pros
Cons
velcro holds up, great imaginative play, lovely craved wooden pieces.
My son loved cutting up the fruit for the first year he had this toy. Now, four years later, he has incorporated it into his kitchen set and plays "chef" and "picnic" with the pieces. The velcro has stayed sticky and the colors are still bright. My only complaint is that the knife is so thick, it's hard to get it started through the velcro, which is quite strong. When my son was young, it was a bit frustrating for him and I needed to help. Other than that, it's been a great toy.
Pros
Cons
nice size, colors, variety of wooden fruit that are fun to cut
knife a bit thick and difficult to get through the velcro for young children
easy to lose, which, lets face it, this is alot of fun but picking it all up is a PITA. So when one part gets lost, we toss that fruit. When its gone, its gone, and buy a different set for the next holiday/event.
CON
As I said, picking it all up is a PITA
easy to lose so need to replace about once a year
The perfet play kitchen food set.
Pros
Cons
wood, cute, easy to use, size perfect for little hands
