Pros Cons
  • Beautifully made, all natural materials.
  • Stiff and difficult to play with.

I bought this doll on the advice of a serious doll collecting friend.  At the time, she thought this was the best doll out there.  Unfortunately my daughter likes stuffed animals much better.  My opinion of the doll is that it is for looking at.  Its is stuffed hard as a rock and has so much yarn hair that it's difficult to change her clothes without getting everything stuck in the velcro.  I just wished I hadn't given into peer pressure and spent so much money on a useless doll.  Her friends don't even play with her.  I feel she is mostly for doll crazy mothers who buy and sell these dolls for themselves.  She is not soft or inviting at all!  Pass!

I don't own one (definitely not in my budget) but I have been to visit the shop and my son played with some of the dolls while I picked up a doll for a friend. The dolls are heavy but I believe that's on purpose as traditional Waldorf dolls are meant to have some heft to them (to help weigh down the child, make it seem more like a real baby's weight, and something about the weight soothing the child) I agree they are a little stiff and probably difficult for little fingers to dress but I think that would just promote fine motor skills. I've also seen first hand the good that the shop and the ladies are doing for the community. WAHM were dropping in and out of the shop dropping off sewing they had done for the dolls etc. she is giving a lot of women out there a chance to make a little money and support their families. This is a place where there isn't much economic opportunity. I'm sorry you spent so much money on something and were disappointed, there is nothing worse! Hopefully this gives you a little bit of a different perspective. Cheers

Thanks! I was wondering about this doll. She is charming and I would love her to have a nice organic doll that was made by people earning a living wage... but oh! the price!!

I finally bought a "made in china" cloth baby doll and luckily found a doll my grandmother made me-- the only I ever kept somehow even though I never really liked it all that much--those two will be her dolls.
