I can't believe it's been a week and 2 days since my sweetpea was born. I'm in love. Despite being exhausted. :-)
Wondering what are the best foods to eat while breastfeeding her? Any things to avoid. So far so good, but nights are long. She had a tummy ache last night.
Also, should I be doing anything to help my belly heal? The doctor simply said "see you in 6 weeks." The nurse advised to rub my belly.
Hope you have a wonderful Thursday! Look forward to your suggestions.:-)
Congratulations on your baby! Today my baby girl is 2 weeks and 2 days:) Week 2 has gone by SO much smoother than week 1, let me tell you.
So, my midwife suggested belly binding to help my abdomen heal. The "Belly Bandit" is one of the most popular ones, and I think it can found at Target. I feel comfortable just wearing my uber high maternity pants, they make me feel secure enough. There are other methods and brands of belly binding - if you had a doula, she would probably know more. Or, you can look a postpartum one up (doulamatch.net) in your area. They love to give out plenty of helpful info like that.
Food for breastfeeding - I've found that I'm basically ravenous all.of.the.time. So I keep lots of snacks handy. For meals I eat plenty of good fats, fruits and veggies (writing this is reminding me that I need to go grocery shopping, haha). Also Stay Hydrated! Unless there are allergy concerns, you shouldn't have to worry about avoiding certain foods - But I would ask a Lactation Consultant (an IBCLC) or a La Leche League leader for sure. They are All Knowing when it comes to breastfeeding:)
Good luck, mama!
