- Home Birth Breast-Feeding Encouragement Bereavement Counseling Contraception Education Lactation consultation Certified to be a doula ("birth assistant" however I prefer the clinical aspect more so than the comfort measures. Aspiring home birth midwife Huge advocate and proponent towards breastfeeding I want to learn from people who are where I want to be one day and continue in the movement of birth from the hospital and back into the home. It sounds crazy, but I want to be a pioneer and take my knowledge of evidence based practice and begin applying that to our rights of passage such as the miracle of childbirth. I want to make a difference, I want to be continually inspired, and I was as much experience as I can possible get! I have already complete my graduation practicum at HROB at Hopkins and LOVED it! While there I helped deliver a 15 y/o mentally retarded young woman and made the absolute best out of it, furthermore, I witnessed a dermoid teratoma which was a very educational anomaly to have actually witnessed. Furthermore, during my 3 months there at Hopkins for my practicum, I single-handedly increased breastfeeding rates by over 50%. I assisted in about 20+ births and ALL but 1 woman who I assumed care of right before I was going off shift, was atleast confirmed to be transfered to the postpartum unit while fully adhering to a breastfeeding regimen.
- My name is Tammi, I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. During my tenure at Hopkins, I achieved the honor of class president as well as became a member of the well-respects "birth companions program" which is offered through Hopkins. These extracurricular involvements opened an opportunity for me to officially apply for my doula licensure. In addition, because of the several other extra curricular activities including breastfeeding and fetal heart monitoring; I am now eligible by several pathways to be a certified lactation consultant. I plan to sit for that board exam on April 30th. My overall goal is to one day myself be a home birth midwife and I am extremely passionate about this being my calling in life. If there is any midwife who is interested in taking a hard working aspiring midwife under her wing, I am your girl Friday!!! I am willing to locate to wherever (nationally or internationally). I have ALWAYS known that this was my passion and now that I have my BSN I want to get the ball rolling and learn from the best while offering my extremely passionate skills to help in a joint effort to create the birth experiences for many mothers exactly as they intent. Should I seem like the kind of person you want on your team (and I can't see why I wouldn't :), Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time of day/night. My cell # is 202-600-6818 and my email address is email@example.com. And, hey, even if you dont have any opportunities, maybe you can sympathize with my enthusiasm and point me in the right direction, please? THANKS FOR READING!!!!!
