A new thread would be great. I hope the fall brings many BFPs.

I just need to have my info moved from "hopefuls" to BFP's. Woohoo!!

Toni, I was thinking the same thing. We're almost to 450 posts on this thread. I recently updated the first post / summary, but I'm sure that there are more ladies who've joined who need to be added to our list. Gals, check out post #1 and send in your screen name, age and ttc status, and any other details you'd like to add about your unique situation. Toni, you should be able to copy and past the post to start the new thread.
Welcome back, Folaboye and Bach4babies, and welcome to all newbies!
AFM, I talked with the RE on Tuesday night, called a few attorneys on Weds, and emailed the clinic as well as my ED, and haven't heard back from either since then. How frustrating! I'm so ready to dive right in, but am frustrated by the lack of communication. Granted, it's only 2 days, but still.....Who knows, they may be on vacation due to the holiday / short work week. Anyway, I'm still holding out on my own cycle, but that could change at any moment, as we all know. I won't test, unless I become substantially late. FF says I should test on Sunday. I'm happy to have an LP that's not just 6 days.

Sounds good and thank you!
Called the specialist's office to see if there were any cancellations and now have an appt on Oct 1 instead of Nov 19. Interesting. Also got an MRI appt. for the following week...*scared*. DH hopes we have to cancel the MRI due to pregnancy which is what happened the last time.
Got a really nice OPK+ this afternoon. Been taking EPO and cough syrup. Tomorrow I go for acupunture and start chinese herbs to help ovulation along.

What do you all think? Should we begin a new thread for fall? I'm willing to give hosting a try... something along the lines of 40+ TTC -- Falling Pregnant in the Fall? Let me know if you're all ready to start anew and I'll get the ball rolling.
Welcome, Bach4Babies & s*******!

I had my first when I was 39, and he's now 17 months. We, too, are hoping for a sibling and have been TTC for 4 months now. Just turned 41 and am hoping that we can do it again.

Bach4Babies Welcome back to the wild world of TTC
Okay I am confused. My temp went up to 98.6 today which I was thinking was a good thing. ONLY Ovusoft completely moved my O date to CD 18 and now says I am 4 dpo instead of 9dpo. Grrrrr!!!! I know that isn't right but this is the second month it has done this. FF moved it up to cd 14 instead of cd 12 which isn't out of my normal realm. BUT I still feel I O'd on the 25th based on the saliva ferning and my normal cycle. This is so frustrating.

You ladies were so kind to me and invited me to join when I was 39 and TTC my son. Now he's 15 months old and the bug has bitten again. I so want there to be a sibling for him that I'm braving my financial naysaying and my memory of how stressful TTC was (and your thread is certainly a reminder) and floating my little hopeful boat back out there in the hormonal sea.
Good to be with you ladies again. May we all be showered with baby dust.
|09-04-2008 01:32 PM|
Good luck... I hope it passes quickly!

Kristin, thank you so much! I really appreciate that. My naturopath was going to ask another naturpath she knows in Toronto that only treats fertility. This is how little anyone knows about it in Canada.
Toni, I did not have a D&C with either m/c. The first was a natural m/c and this last one was induced with misoprostal. My concern is that I may have some retained tissue. My beta results from yesterday may shed some light on this. Still spotting today. And it's mostly red not brown which is what I'd expect at this point.

VM I just asked my TCM doctor this question on Tuesday and she said you don't have to take a break you just need to get your level checked to make sure your dhea level is not too high. It takes about 100 days to work so taking a break isn't necessary unless your level is too high.
I too have gotten acne with it but that was at 75 mg I dropped to 50 and so far so I have minor acne but not like it was at 75. I'll get my level checked the cycle asfter next.

Thank you for your input, ladies. It is better today, except for my hand and wrist. You may be right... stress can do an awful lot to a person. My oldest daughter gets the sternum pain once in a while too... and she has little to stress her out, by her own admission. She spends most of her day working on her artwork. Well, whatever it was, I'm just glad it is letting up.
I have started giving myself reiki again every day... I haven't taken the time to do that in a long time. I'm hoping it will help with the stress and the TTC. This is just our rough time of year. Hubby is a school bus driver, and September & October are always times of low pay due to lack of hours over the summer.
I am doing what I can on my end, and am trying to take your advice and relax a bit too. I'm trying to let go of old baggage and begin with a clean slate, so to speak. It isn't easy, but I'm working on it.
VM... about the bleeding... my second and third miscarriages both bled a long time. It wasn't heavy for a long time, but the trickling went on for several weeks. With my second, I think a small bit of placenta was retained, and once that passed, the bleeding stopped quickly. With the third, well, it was a long process from beginning to end. Eat well, get rest and try to take care of yourself. Did you have a D&C after the induction? I never had that with my miscarriages... they just did their own thing, so I don't know if that would make a difference or not.

Jen, I do have some DHEA that I bought online. The dosage was a bit lower than recommended (50 instead of 75).
Maybe I will try again with the higher dosage in a month or so, I am not sure how much of a break you have to take. I did take it for the full 4 months though so I am not that hopeful that it works for me either. I never got any of the side effects though except maybe a few pimples at AF. WHich is rare, i do admit!
Thanks everyone for letting me vent about the after effects of the m/c and how tired I am of all this!

|Pookietooth||Stealthee, I know what you mean about jealousy and not wanting to have it when a friend is jealous. What about a friend who could have another and chooses not to, somehow that makes me nuts too. Silly, eh?|
|09-03-2008 04:40 PM|
to you Tuwamare. I get cramping in my chest, like more on the sides, and attribute it to food reactions (usually gluten, dairy, or soy), but it could be stress too.
VM to you. I am so sorry to hear your worries. We can get DHEA over the counter here -- if you order it online can you have it shipped to you or to a US address where you could drive to pick it up?
Same temps for me. Ugh. I am thinking taking DHEA is not that helpful for me, especially since I've been breaking out.
I totally get jealous of pg women and nursing moms. And don't get me started on the insane thoughts I get when I see a bottle feeding mom, which is still quite common here (and yes, I know it could be expressed BM, but when I see a bunch of bottles with dry powder in them it's pretty obviously not).
|09-03-2008 03:53 PM|
I just get on now.
vegan mom: I'm so sorry to read about this.
Hi to everyone too
|09-03-2008 03:23 PM|
I just wanted to say that I am sorry that you are going through this.
|09-03-2008 03:09 PM|
Toni, I would tend to agree with the stress diagnosis. I am sorry babe, TTC sucks.
I am STILL bleeding, it's been 12 days for heaven's sake! It's just liner-worthy now but still!
I had my second beta today. She is sending me for them weekly just to make sure my HCG is coming down appropriately. Apprently you should not go first thing in the morning for bloodwork (and that is when everyone who had to fast for theirs goes). I waited over an hour!
Does anyone know how long you are supposed to take off between DHEA rounds? I took it for 4 months and I have been off it for 2.5 months. Not sure when i can start it up again. My doc doesn't know, she didn't prescribe it for me and it is not available OTC up here.
I do have to say that I am a little concerned that I took the DHEA for 4 months and still had a crappy egg.

Thank you for the condolences everyone... right now I feel like I'm falling apart. Literally.
I don't know what I did to my back, but it feels like I pulled all the muscles on one side. AF cramps, usually only a mild annoyance, are knocking me for a loop this time. I got a migraine yesterday (haven't had one in several months) and while loading up groceries, I did something to my right wrist and hand and they are aching constantly. Ack! Someone better lock me up somewhere safe before I do something else to myself.
I'm also experiencing this weird pressure/ache on my sternum. I had this during my last pregnancy and went to the ER. They found absolutely nothing. I hadn't had it for a long time, and at the fair it returned with a vengeance, in part, I think due to the hot, muggy weather. It literally hurt to breathe. It has been coming on almost every evening for the past week. It doesn't matter what position I choose, it feels the same. My oldest daughter also gets this occasionally, so I don't think it is just stress, which was one of my first thoughts. Have any of you felt anything like this?
|09-02-2008 02:27 PM|
Stealthee, there is nothing strange or terrible about your reaction to your friend's PG. Please don't beat yourself up about it, I am sure we have ALL been there.
Big hugs to you.
I am glad you got to go to Paris though. Fun!
Good luck Laurie!
I am sorry about AF Toni!
I agree that it is better for you to take a vacation than your ED MsGBs! I am so excited for you.
SunRise, everyone seems to be of the opinion that my eggs are just old. My progesterone came back at 15 when it was tested the month before I got PG but I didn't get it tested at 7 DPO wich is when it typically peaks. I had O'd about 5 days earlier than I thought so it was more like 12 DPO. I am going to use some wild yam cream this cycle just to be safe but we really don't think it is a problem. My thyroid is perfect right now. And my CD 3 bloddwork was perfect the month I got PG. FSH was 7.7 and my estradiol was 187.
So the question is, do I have any good eggs left or not?
The RE says that the m/c rate is about 40-45% at my age. That seems to be about how it is on this thread too so it seems logical. She was all positive for the "next time" I get PG saying I have a better than even chance of having a take home baby.
However, who knows, maybe 95% of MY eggs are toast.

Toni: Sorry about AF. I hope September will be your month.
Laurie: Good luck with the 2ww. Your chart is looking good so far!
Sunrise: Good luck also with the 2ww. Glad you had a great time in Turkey. Hope the blood work reveals something useful.
Pookietooth: Sorry about the frustrating cycle. I hope you see a temp spike soon.
Ms. GB: It is exciting and scary, isn't it? I try to remember how "lucky" I am to have the technology available to possibly get me pregnant. Even 10 years ago, before ICSI, DH and I wouldn't have had a chance of conceiving. Continued good luck to you. Looking forward to hearing what your IVF doctor has to say on Tuesday.
Hockeylover: Hope your pregnancy is progressing well. Can you feel the babies kicking yet?
Veganmama: Glad to hear that the bleeding has subsided and you can return to your normal activities. Yoga can really help keep one sane in stressful times and you've had to deal with so much over the last few months. Continued peace and healing to you.
Bhappy: Welcome back. Sorry you're nor feeling your best.
AFM: I met up with my oldest, dearest girlfriend in Paris over the weekend (oo la la!) where she told me she is 10 weeks pregnant. It's a bit of a miracle since she and her husband tried for about 6 years before having their first child via IVF. This one is a natural pregnancy. Plus she turned 40 in March. But I feel like such a big jerk because my initial reaction was one more of self pity than happiness for her. (I totally covered up my sadness and she was so considerate and sympathetic about telling me.) I've been told by other women with IF issues that this is a "normal" reaction, but I did expect better from myself. I've only experienced the mildest twinges of jealousy when hearing about other women's pregnancies before, but I guess because this one is closer to me, it's affected me more. Strange. Terrible. Thanks for listening.

Just got back from holiday. Now am detoxing my body, which apparently includes AF...sigh...
oh well. I'm kinda glad it didn't happen this month, since dh and I had unprotected sex for the first time in like 9 years, and it was a moment of pure trust on his part that we timed it during an infertile period. For a while I was concerned whether my mittelschmerz was pre- or post-O, but it seems like my original instinct was correct. Maybe I will start temping and charting...
Toni, You're so awesome at keeping your chin up!
I hope everyone else is well.
It is back to school for all of us tomorrow. I'm a teacher in a Waldorf school. Third grade. I got home from holiday physically ill, and have been trying to detox and get better. I am just not ready to go to school tomorrow. Now with AF I just feel so sh*tty... Somehow I just have to trust that when I stand before my students it will all come together. I'm scared now, tho.

massaginmommy, your chart looks great!
Veganmama, I was wondering how you were doing and if you are planning to get any blood work done to rule out problems (hormone imbalance, insulin etc)? I'm getting blood work today or tomorrow. My OB says there is a long list of things to check for...that are all fixable. Last month, my progesterone was checked, at my request, during the miscarriage. It came back borderline ... which I would think the timing would show inconclusive results since I was miscarrying, but it was nice of him (OB) to humour me . My thyroid was also tested and that is fine.
I'm kind of crampy and waiting to see what comes of it. I was traveling for the past month so I wasn't consistent with temping, unsure of O day - but had a great time touring (Turkey interior and coastline)

|Pookietooth||Toni. Hopefully September will be better.|

Toni I'm so sorry
I am getting hopeful this cycle you can see my chart in the link in my signature and my Fertiliy Friend one is here http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/8fe89 I'm 7 dpo still too early to tell anything but it is looking good to me.
I will test on the 8th if AF hasn't arrived.
|09-01-2008 07:43 AM|
|msgoodbuns||I'm sorry, Toni. You still have a good LP length, and your temps were nice, so you look quite fertile to me. May September bring a sticky bun your way!|
